Joint efforts against financial crime
At Tietoevry Banking, we take an active approach to our memberships on financial crime prevention organizations. We do not just listen – we engage, contribute, and learn.
In an increasingly complex and globalized financial world, collaboration is crucial in the fight against fraud and financial crime. It is a strategic investment in knowledge sharing, influence, and the development of better security solutions.
Tietoevry Banking's Financial Crime Prevention is an active member of several major organizations that discuss and collaborate on fraud prevention. These memberships provide valuable insights into fraud trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technological solutions for our fraud prevention experts.
Membership in the Global Anti-Scam Alliance is the latest network we join.
We are very happy and proud to welcome Tietoevry Banking as a corporate member of the Global Anti-Scam Alliance. Tietoevry has a long and proven track record in IT innovation and fighting fraud. Together, we look forward to collaborating in the fight against financial crime and making a significant impact in safeguarding our communities.

From insight to action
John-Erik Setsaas, Director of Innovation, is one of our key contributors in these collaborations.
"No one can solve these problems alone – collaboration and data sharing have been recurring themes at every conference and forum I have attended in recent years. By participating in expert groups and conferences, we gain critical insights that translate into concrete actions to strengthen fraud prevention in the banking sector," he says.
Most importantly, we take an active approach to our memberships to engage, contribute, and learn.
"Cross-institutional collaboration is essential. By sharing knowledge and best practices, we can identify and combat fraud more effectively, building a stronger defense against financial crime," says Silje Andrea Kvernberg, Quality Manager on financial crime prevention.
She finds it inspiring to see institutions coming together to exchange ideas and strategies.
"These collaborations allow us to learn from one another and develop solutions that prevent fraud before it happens," adds Kvernberg.
Setsaas highlights that these memberships not only provide access to information but also allow Tietoevry Banking to be part of the solution.
"It's about visibility, discussion, and influence, but also about bringing back valuable insights that we can use in our own product development. We can take ideas from these networks and create even better solutions for our customers," says Setsaas.
Academic collaboration for future financial crime prevention experts
Collaboration is not just about addressing today's challenges, but about building a strong knowledge base for the future. That is why we are working with Nord University on a new financial crime prevention study program.
To be launched in fall 2025, the program will consist of three sessions featuring both external and internal speakers. The goal is to develop a specialized education in financial crime prevention that can become an integrated part of academic studies.
Setsaas is also personally engaged in mentoring international master’s and Ph.D. students in the field.
"Engaging with new thoughts and perspectives from academia contributes to innovation in our industry. Through active participation, information sharing, and the development of new technologies, we can collectively build a stronger defense against financial crime," he concludes.

With over 25 years’ experience in digital identity, John Erik Setsaas is a pioneer in this space. He has deep knowledge in the areas of digital onboarding, authentication, electronic signatures and seals, time stamping and digital identity wallet.
He is a prolific speaker at fintech industry events around the world.
