Time's running up as cash expires
According to research, cash will likely no longer exist in Sweden by March 24th, 2023. As a company, we can't do much about the fact that cash is disappearing, but we can make sure inclusive services are available for all citizens.
The backstory of Min Ekonom
The case for digital cash
When cash disappears, we'll be able to handle Anti Money Laundering (AML), and taxes are secured. Digital money and actors like Swish really show how democratic digital services can be: 24/7 access, decide on exact amounts, etc. But: we can do better and work harder to include everyone!
The case for cash
While digital money has a lot of advantages, it also holds a lot of limitations. Bills and coins are tactile and easy to understand, whilst digital cash is not. Access to digital money is hard for some to acquire, making the gap between who's included in the digital society and who isn't even bigger.
What we want
The journey towards the cashless society means digital exclusion is growing, as fewer and fewer shops and cafés accept cash as a means of payment. We might want a cash-less society, but we don't want people who already struggle with digital services to become more excluded.
Min Ekonom
Digital money is hard to understand. Min Ekonom is a digital tool that has the potential to empower people by giving them a digital “coach”. Min Ekonom gives you advice on your economy based on your balance, which reduces the risk for spontaneous and unnecessary purchases.
Want to know more?Let's partner up
TietoEVRY isn't a bank, nor are our project-partners Fellingsbro Folkhögskola and Länsstyrelsen in Örebro. We're looking to partner up with an organisation in the Financial industry who wants to test Min Ekonom and help customers understand digital money better. Collaboration is key to success.
