Promoting social sustainability
22 March 2023
Tietoevry is one of the main partners of the SHE Conference in Oslo this April. SHE Conference is a social sustainability conference focusing on growth and innovation in business and society.
At Tietoevry, we develop digital solutions and services for the whole society, and therefore it is important that the professional developers reflect the diversity of our society. Diversity is essential for varied perspectives - ensuring better decisions, increased innovation and digital services that meet the needs of the entire population. Our culture is built on Nordic heritage of openness, trust, and diversity – which we see as an advantage in our globally competed industry.
Tietoevry is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion. We strive to foster a culture that values difference and recognizes that people from different backgrounds and experiences bring valuable insights to the workplace and enhance the way we work. Diversity and inclusion are key elements shaping the company culture and enabling better decision making. Through our diversity and inclusion charter we have set concrete priorities and commitments.
“Being part of the SHE community enables us to benchmark our own performance and ambitions with likeminded companies. Embracing every individual creates a culture where everyone can reach their full potential – and diversity and inclusion are part of the winning business cultures today”, says Kia Haring, Head of Communications and Sustainability at Tietoevry.
“We are very happy to be partnering with Tietoevry again for this year’s conference! The role they play in creating more opportunities for diverse voices to enter the sector is vital. We appreciate the important voice they will bring to SHE2023 - both at the expo and on stage!”, says Astrid Skaugseth, CEO of SHE Community.
Within the ICT sector today, the gender balance in general is 30% women and 70% men, and women in industrialized countries account for only 1 in 3 degrees in science. As part of our diversity agenda we have set an ambition to reach 40% share of female professionals globally by 2026 – and 50% by 2030.
Evi Seljevoll, Managing Partner of Tech Services Norway at Tietoevry, will join a panel at the SHE conference to discuss embedding social sustainability at the workplace. During Evi´s ten years at Tietoevry she has held leading positions within financial services and public health sector, and she works actively to increase the recruitment of female leaders and technology specialists to the company. As a mentor and sponsor she is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion, and she works persistently to encourage girls and women to pursue a career within the tech sector.
“We need to change the way we talk about IT and technology to reach girls at a young age and get them interested in pursuing an education and career in the ICT sector. If you want to influence the development of our society in the years to come – technology is the way to go, and we need to showcase this”, says Evi.
