An energy supplier becomes a prime example of innovation and efficiency thanks to optimized financial, logistics, and HR processes
More about Our SAP ExpertiseSenior Customer Manager
Burgenland Energie planned to migrate from its SAP R/3 system to a modern ERP solution to enhance finance, logistics, and HR functions. Compliance with GDPR was a key concern for sensitive customer data. The expectations of internal and external stakeholders were to minimize business disruptions during the transition in favor of seamless integration.
Tietoevry was chosen as a trusted partner for this strategic project to help Burgenland Energie turn the challenge into a tangible opportunity, ensure a smooth migration, and enable future innovations in the energy industry.
After 2 years of preparations and 2.5 years of project implementation, Tietoevry and Burgenland Energie successfully completed phase 1 of the SAP S/4HANA project in the autumn of 2024. Tietoevry worked closely with the client following the Greenfield approach to ensure that Burgenland users were fully onboarded for the new modern platform. The processes in the areas of finance, logistics, and HR were either migrated or redesigned and removed from the old SAP R/3 system. In addition to renewing the technological basis of Burgenland Energie, this migration also ensured GDPR compliance and established the foundation for the future unbundling of energy supply and grid operations.
After the first phase of the project, which provided Burgenland Energie with a stable, centralized platform and ensured efficiency across all core functions, the endeavor moved seamlessly to phase 2. Modernization in the areas of finance and logistics will continue with further integration of SAP for Utilities (formerly SAP IS-U) – the industry solution for the utilities sector. By mid-2025, these industry-specific modules will be removed from the old platform and partially transferred to the group system (network operations) as well as duplicated to a separate SAP S/4HANA for Sales.
