A new and modern network information system for the design, construction and maintenance of electricity distribution networks.

Koillis-Satakunnan Sähkö Oy, an electricity sales and network business serving around 16,000 connection points in Western Finland, needed a new modern network information system for the design, construction and maintenance of electricity distribution networks. The solution had to include all the functionalities required for managing the life cycle of the electricity distribution network and thus reduce the number of separate applications currently in use.
The new system was required to have features that enable cost-effective operation throughout the entire life cycle of the electricity network, such as:

The NIS solution developed by Tietoevry is a modern network information system that works through a browser. It serves different user roles and is available on lightweight terminal devices regardless of time and place. The solution meets the requirements of network companies and is based on the latest technologies while taking into account the tightened information security requirements.
NIS enables digital and cost-effective processes for network calculations and the design, construction and condition management of the electricity distribution network, with real-time status information for all users.
The Network Information System is based on ArcGIS geographic information software, the world's leading geographic information platform solution, supplied by Esri. ArcGIS offers a comprehensive set of ready-made tools to be used as an extension of NIS. The solution is constantly evolving with new functionalities and tools, as Esri invests significantly in product development.
NIS is delivered for the customer’s in-house server environment or as a Microsoft Azure cloud service. The licensing model allows network companies and their subcontractors to have an unlimited number of users, thus enabling flexible and efficient operations.
