As an experienced people and delivery manager, Bolesław prefers to keep his life remarkably offline. Although he acknowledges the convenience of teleconferences for connecting with global clients, he would much rather travel and meet them in person. In his free time, he likes to stay grounded. Literally.
"I began my career at a local software company right after graduating, which was founded by a professor from the Technical University of Szczecin. Initially, we worked in the access network domain, and I was part of the team that developed models for network elements simulators. We grew until Tietoenator acquired us, and we became part of TE. Despite the changes in names over the years, I feel like I’ve been with the same company for nearly 25 years,” Bolesław shares, reflecting on his noteworthy journey.
Bolesław started as a software developer focusing on network element simulators for a global NEP and quickly moved into managerial roles, such as center of competence lead and project manager. Now, his primary roles are as a people manager and delivery manager, with a recent emphasis on cloud technologies.
“I’m concentrating on utilizing cloud technologies in the automotive industry to make connected cars more than just vehicles, while ensuring they remain a secure means of transportation. There are still many challenges ahead, especially in balancing entertainment without losing focus on safety,” Bolesław points out the importance of knowledge exchange. “It's incredibly rewarding to both share and gain knowledge simultaneously, allowing us to collectively enhance our team’s expertise. Even as advanced technologies simplify our daily lives, I find the greatest satisfaction in working directly with people and learning from everyone’s stories.” He seizes every opportunity to continually gain new insights by engaging with colleagues who are experts in domains like Telecom, Automotive, Electronics, and IoT.
Direct interaction is also crucial in client relations for Bolesław. Not only does he value meeting people, but he also enjoys the travel and the chance to explore new places. “I participated in an exciting project where we established a delivery team at a new site in the Philippines. We worked together, integrating diverse cultures towards a common project goal. Additionally, it was here where I experienced some of the best moments of my life in the wild, like swimming with whale sharks.”
Bolesław recalls his first business trip and flight with Tietoevry. “Over the past 20 years, working in international environments and multicultural projects has enriched my life more than any book could. There are still many places I hope to visit through my work with Tietoevry.”
In his personal time, Bolesław prefers disconnecting and engaging with the “real world” rather than staying perpetually online. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he took up gardening, which keeps him grounded (in the literal sense as well!) and brings him joy from the fruits of his labour.
“My perspective might be somewhat unpopular, but I must say I hope to return to the ‘old normal’ rather than continuing to work remotely. I miss the days when we all met in the office and saw many smiling faces in the hallways, rather than just avatars on calls. I hope this will change soon.”
