Always on the lookout for new challenges and thrills, Marek Więcek embarked on a new career journey after 6.5 years at Tieto in 2014. By 2020, however, he found himself saying, "Boss, I’m back!" and now, after another 4 years with Tietoevry, he considers that decision to be one of the best he’s made.
With over 20 years of diverse experience across various companies, Marek’s career path has been anything but conventional. "I first joined Tietoevry in 2007 when I returned to my hometown of Szczecin from Wrocław. Initially, I started as a C++ developer, but over the years, I transitioned into roles as a team manager and project manager." After 6,5 years of tenure, craving new challenges, Marek decided to part ways with Tieto and moved into project management within automotive software companies. But when a former colleague reached out with a job opportunity at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Marek saw it as the perfect moment to return. Thanks to the “Boss, I’m back” programme, his re-entry was smooth and seamless.
Returning to Tietoevry, Marek took on dual roles as both a line manager and delivery manager in the cloud solutions sector. "I find this dual role particularly fulfilling as each role complements the other, driving our primary goals: the growth of our team members and the expansion of our business for our customers.” Embracing each day with a carpe diem mindset, Marek is committed to ongoing personal and professional development. "Every project and team presents a valuable opportunity to refine and validate my skills. It’s important to remember that nothing is set in stone; different stakeholders need different approaches, and the diverse perspectives within our company are a real strength."
Marek also values the rich diversity within his team, viewing it as a chance to enhance both collective and individual expertise. “I greatly appreciate the brainstorming sessions with my experienced colleagues. It’s reassuring to have the opportunity to discuss perspectives, concerns, and ideas openly.”

Regarding work-life balance, Marek doesn’t strictly separate his personal and professional life but strives to maintain a healthy focus on both. “Thanks to the company’s policies, I can make the most of my time away from work, especially during my travels, which I thoroughly enjoy.” Over the past year, he and his family have explored various corners of Europe, from the vibrant streets of Barcelona to the picturesque landscapes of Bavaria. They've biked locally, enjoyed a father-son trek in Poland's Stołowe Mountains, and soaked up the sun on the beaches of Mallorca. Where will his next adventure take him? After more than 11 years at Tietoevry, Marek remains enthusiastic about discovering new opportunities every day.
